SS Rajamouli’s RRR is set to create another history for India as the film’s famous song “Naatu Naatu” has been nominated at the 95th Oscar Awards in Los Angeles yesterday.
Naatu Naatu got nominated in the Best Original Song category despite the film not scoring any nominations in the Best Picture and Best Director categories.
Naatu Naatu, which also won the Golden Globe in the same category will compete against four other nominated songs – Applause from Tell It Like A Woman, Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All At Once.
A notable omission is Taylor Swift’s Carolina from Where The Crawdads Sing, which was nominated for a Golden Globe.
Meanwhile, Shaunak Sen’s ‘All That Breathes’ scored a nomination in the Best Documentary Feature Film category.
Kartiki Gonsalves’ 41-minute film ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ also scored a nomination in the Best Documentary Short category.
Actors Riz Ahmed and Alison Williams announced the nominations for the Oscars yesterday.
The 95th Academy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on 12 March and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the third time.
