Fiji U20 qualifies for Cup quarterfinals

The Fiji U20 side thumped Vueti Cakau 28-5 to book its spot in the Cup quarterfinals of the Youth Division at the 2023 McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka today.

Guided by Fiji 7s Coach Ben Gollings, the youngsters played with a lot of confidence and motivation.

Two tries from Tevita Sovau and Ilais Vereti which were both converted by Marika Rabonu gave Fiji U20 a 14-0 lead before Petero Curulau scored an unconverted try for Vueti Cakau to narrow the gap at the break.

Gollings made two changes at the commencement of the second half with Vilikesa Rimorimo and Joseva Naqarikau taking the field in place of Vereti and Aisake Masi.

The substitutes played a crucial role and scored back-to-back tries while Sairusi Masi converted both to wrap up the impressive performance.
