Miss Laser Electric Viva Dakua, 18, is one of the contestants vying for this year's Miss Bula crown. The week long festival in Nadi ends this Saturday

Organisers of this years Bula Festival in Nadi promises people a week filled with great activities with prices of tickets being reduced to allow them to enjoy maximum entertainment at affordable prices.

The Festival was officially opened on Saturday with the most successful march witnessed in Nadi despite adverse weather conditions.

The theme for the festival is Bula ensuring education for the needy.

Festival committee treasurer, Anil Kumar said the funds collected this year will be given to students affected by the recent floods for their bus fare to school, fees and books.

Radio 96.5 FM in the western division will be host to a 48-hour Radio-thon whereby each text will cost $0.50 and the money raised will be given to charity to help the needy children.

Some of the attractions of the festival are the youth competition where youths were given the opportunity to display their talents in various competitions; the Pacific Island Night filled with Pacific dancing and singing followed by Bollywood Indian Night tonight and the Bogi Ni Taukei Night (Fijian Night) on Thursday.

On Friday, there will be a Pricilla Night with 10 contestants vying for this years Miss Pricilla title.

Kumar is thankful Vodafone has been their sponsor for three years in a row and is hoping for a bigger festival next year when the festival hits Golden Jubilee.

The Bula festival ends on Saturday with a closing procession through town, leaving Nadi towns temple end at 1.30 pm. for the Vodafone Prince Charles Park.
