Albert Park seemed to have been draped with it on the day, and when the contestants of every category in the 2009 Vodafone Hibiscus turned out, it was unmistakable; the theme of the day was indeed Fijian

From the start of formalities early in the afternoon, it sure was going to be a hectic day as programs ranging from Fijian entertainment, clothing display, art and cultural activities and more importantly Fijian feasting was the order of the day.

It seemed like all, young and old, wanted to be part of the merrymaking and join in the festivity mood that attracted the masses.

Various Fijian entertainment groups from around the country converged at the main stage in Albert Park to show Fiji and the Pacific that dance and entertainment can bring people together.

It wasnt a coincidence that the Dance Fiji 2009 competition with the theme: Dancing across racial barriers was the order of the evening as Fijian youth groups performed Hindi classical songs and were part of the merry making.

The meke performed by the Medrausucu Youth became the highlight of the Dance Competition while the contemporary item from the Nadera Dance Group was icing of the cake.

The Vodafone King Contestants Private Judging was the start to the afternoon activity while Heritage Art Demonstration and Prince Public Judging captured the interest of the crowd.

The Prince Talent Show kept the crowd at the edge of the seats as they saw the young energetic contestants showing off their skills which ranged from singing, poetry, story telling and even dancing to the moves of the late Michael Jackson.

The Princess, Prince and Teen Contestants crowning started the afternoon event while the second public judging for the Vodafone Hibiscus Queen was the conclusion to the Fijian night.

To indicate the theme Fijian night, the contestants from various categories were dressed up in Fijian attire. People turned out to make good use of the Fijian delicacy and variety of rides and amusement activities and there is always something to look forward to which is the Pacific Night tonight.
