Elena Baravilala and a number of local artists will perform at the Gospel High School's Foster Crane hall this Saturday in a Mini Music Show.

A number of young and upcoming local musicians here in the Capital have come together to put on a Mini Music Show for a good cause.

The show has been the brain child of a former student of Gospel High School who is also making a name for herself in local circles and in the Pacific region.

Elena Baravilala, a 2008 MIC finalist and has featured alongside the likes of renowned Pacific artists in Vanessa Quai and Australia based Paulini Curuenavuli has come back to give something to the school she attended.

Her Mini Music Show will feature the likes of power house Ilisavani Cava, winner of the 2009 MIC, 2010 MIC finalist, the charismatic Pauliasi Koroiwaca, DEE VOX and many more.

The event is in aid of the Schools Ex-Scholars Committee who are planning to boost its coffers as it maps a strategy to gain momentum in networking with old scholars the world over and assisting in the schools development plans for the future.

Committee member and event coordinator Hennah-Naco Bolaitamana says that whilst the fundraiser is open to the general public, their main aim is to get old scholars actively involved in the Old Scholars Association and to network at the event.

This is the baby steps we are taking in order to get our old scholars involved, she said

We hope that after this, the network base of old scholars would have increased to get the ball rolling.

Bolaitamana said the Old Scholars committee is thankful to Baravilala who came up with the idea and has been actively involved with the organizing of the event.

She has been an active member of the committee and for her to give her time and engaging some of Fijis top and upcoming musicians for the association is an inspiration for old scholars to come forward and join our cause, she said.

We have also been supported well by our old scholars abroad, our hope is to get all involved and we are calling out to all former students both at primary school and high school to come out in numbers and support us.

We have been having a lot of positive responses with the ticket sales, so we are expecting a big crowd at the school hall come Saturday. she said

The program starts at 6.30pm at the Schools Foster Crane Hall and will end at 9pm.

Tickets are selling at $3 per head with limited space.
