Models display dresses under the Eco Pasifika at the Na Totoka Pacific Wearable Art Show.

The use of the human body as a canvas was taken to a whole new level when the finest of the Pacifics fashion designers gave us a glimpse of their innovative and unique styles while promoting their different yet strong messages through wearable art.

The Totoka Pacific Wearable Art Show was another testament to the true beauty and uniqueness of Pacific art; although in this case; Pacific fashion.

The Eco Pasifika category highlighted this unique Pacific trait with its intricately designed dresses displaying the message of the deep connection between Islander and nature.

Master of ceremony, Masada Vuikadavu, perfectly described the category as; a look back in history to traditional costumes, the environment and its natural shapes, colors and textures.

Another category worth mentioning is the MENA Samoa collection which was one of the shows highlights.

Guests and patrons alike got a taste of high-end fashion designing when the Loheni sisters pulled out all the stops with their collection of elegant, beautiful and very feminine line of gowns.

Agnes, Jackie, Gina and Charlene Loheni drew most of the crowds applause with show pieces that mainly focused on the dressing of the modern Pacific woman.

The Samoan ladies belong to the growing gene pool of Pacific Island designers out to make a name for them in the cut throat world of fashion. Also, names like Aisea Konrote, Stephanie Semisi and Mere Morris are such names that are drawing a lot of attention to themselves for their Pacific influenced designs.
