Sigatoka-born Bollywood debutant Sumeet Tappoo has enjoyed his new stint in the movie world.

Following the release of his top of the chart hitting album Meri Deewangi in India, Fiji born singer Sumeet Tappoo has finally broke into Bollywood as a playback singer.

Tappoo features as a playback for the movie- MAALIK EK, a movie based on Shirdi Sai Baba, which will be released worldwide on 29th October.

Famous Bollywood star Jackie Shroff plays the role of Shirdi Sai Baba in the Deepak Balraj Vij directed movie which has the music of Anup Jalota.

Tappoo features in the song "Sabse Nyara Sabse Pyara Mera Sai Baba" with Anuradha Paudwal and Jalota.

The tracks of the movie also feature the voices of Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Ghulam Ali and Shreya Ghoshal

Speaking exclusively to fijilive, the Mumbai based singer said he was thrilled to make his debut in the movie industry.

I am thrilled to have made my debut as a playback singer in the Bollywood movie industry, and that too with a spiritual movie a blessed beginning, he said.

I have sung a duet with two other legends of the music world, Anup Jalota and Anuradha Paudwal, so it is indeed an honor to share my first song with artists of such stature.

It is a small part in the song but nevertheless a beginning. In India, a lot of emphasis is given to playback singers as opposed to singers who just release albums, which is what is given more importance in the west.

One has to adapt to the norms of the industry one works in and hence, it was important for me to take this step and to establish myself as a serious singer in this highly competitive industry, which is filled with extremely talented individuals who have a lot to offer to music lovers.

I recorded this song for the movie three years ago, before the release of Meri Deewangi. But with the release of Meri Deewangi, I have put my name in the hat among other singers for music directors and movie producers to consider.

One cannot predict what transpires out of this, but I leave this in the hands of Divine. I will continue to strive to sacrifice and work hard - there is no substitute for this he added.

With the release of his first playback song and the success of Meri Deewangi, Tappoo is looking to fly the Fiji flag high in the competitive and challenging Indian music industry.
