Fiji U16 breaks camp for Christmas

Digicel Fiji Under 17 head coach Sunil Kumar has confirmed that national players have been released to spend Christmas with their families.

Kumar said the players are on a five day break and will return to camp on the 28th of this month for the OFC Under 17 Championship in January next year.

“We’ve been in camp for nearly two months now and the players needed some break.”

“They deserve this break and of course it’s Christmas so it’s a family time and players have been away from home for some time.”

“Our training will continue from the 28 when the boys return to camp and we are preparing well for our opening match against Samoa.”

“We played Samoa in 2018 and we came from behind to hold them. Of course every team will be different and we are not expecting anything less from them,” he said.

Fiji has been drawn in Group A with Papua New Guinea, Tonga, and Samoa.

Fiji kick off their campaign against Samoa on January 11 at 7 pm at HFC Bank Stadium.
