Gloucester hold Irish despite Tuisue sinbin

Gloucester has held off London Irish to win the Premiership Rugby match 8-6 despite being a man down.

Gloucester number eight Albert Tuisue was sin-binned in the 70th minute of play for a high tackle on centre Bernhard Janse van Ranberg.

The hosts did well to deny their more powerful counterparts and took a 5-3 lead at the break after lock Mattias Alemanno scored the only try of the game, with London Irish number 10 Paddy Jackson adding a penalty.

During a scoreless second half, Jackson converted the resulting penalty from Tuisue’s send-off to take the lead for the first time in the game.

But Gloucester flyhalf Santiago Carreras nailed a crucial penalty after the full-time whistle to ensure the Irish losing streak at Kingsholm Stadium was maintained.
