Govt sticks to budget till new fiscal year: Prasad

Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says that he will not be presenting a new fiscal budget to Parliament as there are only six months left in this fiscal year.

In a press conference, Prof Prasad confirmed that they will continue on the budget that has already been set by the FijiFirst Government.

He said they will only work to improve policies and work profusely to enhance the ministry’s goal.

The Minister has also indicated that the change of name of the ministry from economy to finance will not be a costly affair.

Prof Prasad said it is a necessary affair, however, it will not be a costly one.

“For paperwork., letterheads and all administrative purposes. That’s all it is and nothing to worry about.”

Earlier today, he met with his staff at the Ministry of Finance together with the Assistant Minister for Finance, Immanuel Esrom and the Permanent Secretary Shiri Goundar.
