Hooper’s Aust 7s debut delayed further

Michael Hooper will have to wait a little longer to make his debut in 7s after Coach John Manenti announced an unchanged side for this weekend’s Los Angeles 7s.

Hooper had initially flagged LA 7s as a potential debut destination.

The most-capped Wallabies skipper who boasts 125 Tests in total for Australia – watched the side finish tenth in Vancouver from the sideline.

Overlooked for last year’s 15-man World Cup, the flanker committed to the code’s Olympic alternative with the hope of playing at the Paris Games in July.

Nick Malouf will once again captain the side.

They face a brutal pool draw, opening their campaign with arch-rivals New Zealand  before facing the USA and Samoa who both defeated Australia in Vancouver.

Australia currently sits fifth on the World Series ladder with four tournaments remaining until the final in Madrid.

Australia squad– Henry Hutchison, Ben Dowling, Henry Palmer, Dietrich Roache, Tim Clements, Henry Paterson, Josh Turner, Matt Gonzalez, Nick Malouf (c), Nathan Lawson, James Turner,  Hayden Sargeant,  Michael Icely.
