Inaugural summit to boost tourism industry

A 3-day inaugural Fiji Tourism Investment Summit which gets underway tomorrow at the Sheraton Fiji Resort in Denarau Island is set to further promote investment in the country’s most thriving sector.

Organized by the Investment Fiji, Tourism Fiji in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the summit will highlight the opportunities and provide the invited investors an opportunity to meet all relevant stakeholders first-hand to discuss areas of interest when investing in the tourism industry.

Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica has encouraged the international investors to take advantage of the Summit to explore investment opportunities or form partnerships with local businesses.

“Fiji is a renowned tourist destination, and we believe that the Summit will help boost the industry and create more job opportunities for Fijians.”

The Summit will feature keynote speeches and panel discussions on a range of topics related to the tourism industry, including tourism infrastructure development, sustainable tourism, and investment opportunities in the industry.

It will also provide a networking platform for local and international investors, tourism operators, and industry experts.

Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka said they are excited to host the Tourism Investment Summit, which will showcase Fiji’s potential as a tourism investment destination.

“Our beautiful country offers a range of tourism opportunities, from luxury resorts to adventure tourism, and we look forward to attracting more investors to help us develop these opportunities.”

The summit which is supported by HFC Bank and Telecom, aims to attract foreign investment with the potential prospects to increase accommodation in Fiji as well as promote the sustainable development of the tourism industry in Fiji.
