King 7s Select back for Coral Coast 7s

Fiji 7s legend Waisale Serevi’s King 7s Select will make a return to this month’s 2023 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens tournament.

The King 7s Select that features in the Youth Division has been a standout in the past and has been known to produce a number of local prospects on the international stage.

“They are always a strong team,” said tournament chairman Jay Whyte during the pool draws yesterday.

Big names have featured for the King 7s select in the past, including Olympic Gold medalists Sireli Maqala and Iosefo Masi as well as Moana Pasifika hitman Timoci Tavatavanawai.

The King 7s select goes second seed in Pool A with Tuva Rugby, Mamaqa Grass Roots and the Natabua Beez.

Also joining the Coral Coast 7s tournament are the Aussie Youth 7s and Japan SDS.

“Great to see the interest from and we look forward to seeing who will take home the victory this year.”

Whyte also thanked Serevi for providing a team and his continued support of the tournament.

The Dominion Brothers lead Pool B with Ralagi 7s, Japan SDS and SRS Nukuvura.

First timers the Aussie Youth 7s tops Pool C with the Pio Tuwai-coached AJ Pallets Ba River 7s team, First Light Taveuni and NNN Tuburua.

Fiji Under- 20s team heads pool D with McDonald’s Vueti Cakau, PSM Brothers and the Cuvu Blues.

The tournament kicks off next week Thursday, January 12 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
