Labasa edges Nadi with late goal

In a fiercely contested match, Labasa edged Nadi 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Anasimeci Volitikoro in Day 2 of the 2023 Digicel Women’s IDC.

The match which saw strong defensive performances from both sides, was tilted in Labasa’s favor by Volitikoro’s powerful strike.

Nadi’s defense, anchored by Adi Mea Naiveli and Sereana Saukuru, along with Anatoki Uaite’s contributions in midfield, held strong for much of the game, limiting Labasa’s opportunities.

Nadi’s goalkeeper, Remivani Verau was also in excellent form, making several crucial saves to keep her team in contention.

Despite these efforts, the Sofi Diyalowai captained Labasa side continued to press.

Their persistence paid off when Volitikoro broke through Nadi’s solid backline with a decisive and powerful shot that beat Verau, securing a hard-fought 1-0 win for Labasa.
