Lautoka dedicate Farebrother win to Mothers

Lautoka Rugby has ended a 21-year wait by securing the INKK Mobile Farebrother Trophy, defeating title holders Nadi 16-10 at Lawaqa Park this afternoon.

The victory comes as a special gift to mothers, with Mother’s Day around the corner.

Lautoka Rugby Union’s Secretary, Seta Rakoto dedicated the win to all mothers.

“We thank God for the win and wish all the supporters and mothers a happy Mother’s Day; this win is a gift for them,” he told FijiLive.

Rakoto says the team was happy with the team’s unexpected success, as they initially only aimed to maintain their status in the Skipper Cup.

“Our aim was just to maintain our status in the skipper cup, but to able to challenge, I think that was a bonus.”

“we’ve done something that we weren’t imagining, the trophy was not planned, we were aiming to win it after 2 or 3 years but I think by the efforts that has been put in by our coaches and players we were able to succeed,” he added.

Lautoka will face Suva as their next challenger, with the venue yet to be confirmed for next Saturday’s game.
