Lomani switches to 7s, eyes spot in Olympics

Former Fijiana 15s winger Kolora Lomani has joined the 7s side ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 24-year-old Kadavu native who currently plays for Marist St Pats in Wellington, New Zealand joined the camp ahead of the Madrid 7s and is aiming for a spot in the team to France in July.

Lomani admits the change has been challenging.

“Coming into 7s has been pretty hard because this has been my first week of full training. It’s been tough since coming from 15s, where we don’t do as much conditioning as we do here in 7s, but I’m enjoying it. The girls have been pushing me,” said the Kadavu native.

Lomani’s move to the 7s format makes a shift in her rugby career, and she is drawing strength from the support and encouragement of her new teammates as she adapts to the rigorous demands of 7s rugby training.
