Mental prep is vital for youngsters: Serritslev

National Coach Flemming Serritslev says Fiji U17 players will have to be mentally strong in the OFC U17 Championship which kicks off this Wednesday.

Serritslev, who is assisting Coach Sunil Kumar in preparing the Baby Bula Boys said they have put together a very strong and formidable team.

“All the hard work is done and the players are ready for the competition. While they are physically fit for their games, it is important they prepare mentally for each opponent.”

“Right mindset and attitude is important. Since the players are very young, the job of the coaches is to instill good discipline in the team and ensure the players listen to the instructions and get all the messages clearly.”

“The players have made a lot of sacrifices to make the national team. They left their families and friends behind to take up the responsibility to represent the country. Good guidance and nurturing will surely develop them into superstars of the future.”

Serritslev added that with the right  focus and confidence, the team should do wonders and even qualify for the World Cup in Peru as they have the home ground and crowd advantage.
