Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru says his Ministry will work closely with relevant stakeholders to identify resources, implement sustainable programs, and monitor the progress of youth development efforts in the Tikina of Nacula.
This follows the Paramount Chief of Drola, Turaga na Tui Drola and Matani Tikina Nacula of Yasawas paying a courtesy visit to the Sports Minister on Wednesday to discuss matters regarding youth development initiatives in Nacula.
During the meeting, the esteemed Paramount Chief of Drola Turaga na Tui Drola, Ratu Manasa Naikasowalu and Matani Tikina Nacula Lavenia Naivalu expressed their commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the youth residing in their region.
The delegates highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for young people to engage in productive activities, pursue education, and develop essential skills for their personal and professional growth.
Discussions during the visit also focused on potential collaborations between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Tikina of Nacula to establish youth empowerment programs, vocational training opportunities, and mentorship initiatives.
The delegation also proposed the creation of a dedicated youth center in the Tikina, which would serve as a hub for various educational and recreational activities, as well as a platform for fostering community engagement.
Saukuru noted the significance of the proposed initiatives and expressed his willingness to explore avenues for partnership and support.
He assured the delegation of the Government’s commitment to supporting youth development initiatives across the nation.
He also acknowledged the unique challenges faced by remote communities, such as the Tikina of Nacula, and emphasised the Government’s determination to provide equal opportunities for all young people, regardless of their geographical location.
