Nand saves Suva in southern derby

National marksman Merrill netted a brace as Suva came from two goals down to hold Rewa 2-2 in Round two of the Digicel Fiji Premier League at the Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour today.

After suffering a 5-2 defeat to Ba in the opening round, the Whites strengthened their team and included experienced players like Meli Codro, Bruce Hughes, Kavaia Rawaqa and Dave Radrigai in the starting lineup while goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva was still a no-show and did not turn up for the encounter.

The Delta Tigers, playing their first DFPL match of the season, led 1-0 at the break via a 15th minute Epeli Valevou goal.

Midfielder Iosefo Verevou doubled Rewa’s lead midway in the second spell before Suva staged a strong comeback and Nand got his double, making him the top scorer in the competition with 4 goals from two outings.
