New passport process in place: Immigration

From Friday, 24 May, the Department of Immigration will no longer be taking walk-in customers for passport services, but on an appointment basis.

In a statement, the Acting Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Sainitiki Ravuso said this is due to the ongoing increase in demand for passports, the stock of blank passports is running low.

Ravuso said those who have currently booked an appointment through the Immigration website will be served according to their appointment dates.

He said the Department of Immigration will only consider emergency cases, including medical emergencies, outside of the appointment system.

“We are aware of the inconvenience this may cause to our citizens and residents, and we apologise for any disruption this might bring to your plans. The Department assures you that we are taking the necessary steps to address this issue. An update on the situation will be provided on any developments,” Ravuso said.
