New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta congratulated the People’s Alliance, National Federation Party and the Social Democratic Liberal Party on forming a coalition to lead Fiji for the next four years.
In a tweet posted on Tuesday, she congratulated Sitiveni Rabuka.

“New Zealand looks forward to working together to continue strengthening our warm relationship,” she said.
However, in a press conference yesterday, the General Secretary for the FijiFirst Party, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said it was unfortunate that Mahuta had been ill-advised by her Pacific desk and had jumped the gun.
He said he hoped her High Commission in Fiji was a bit wiser and helps her make wise statements.
