Overdue pension payments ready: FNPF

The Fiji National Provident Fund says 90 per cent of overdue pensioner payments will be in their bank accounts today while the remaining payments will be made by Monday.
This follows processing problems this past week which delayed the payments.
FNPF chief executive Aisake Taito said all payments to pensioners, who validated and chose an option before February 29, 2012, will be paid out by Monday morning.
“I would like to extend our deepest apologies to all pensioners for the delay caused by process problems encountered over the last few days,” said Taito.
He said FNPF officers have had to manually process all pension folders.
He said arrangements had been made with commercial banks to receive and update payments into pensioners' accounts this weekend.
On pensioners who chose their pension options after 29 February, 2012, Taito said they would ensure that they will receive their payment on April 30, 2012 as scheduled.
