Constitution submission deadline extended The submission deadline for Fiji's new Constitution has been extended to April 26.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama had earlier announced that all submissions were to be handed in by 5 April.

But Bainimarama confirmed the deadline extension in a Radio-talkback show.

He said submissions and consultations have been extended because of the number of requests received for extension and this will give citizens more time to make their submissions.

The Prime Minister said the new constitution will be the best as it will safeguard the country’s future and will keep Fiji up to date with other countries.

He said all submissions made regarding the draft constitution will be taken into consideration.

He has also called on all Fijians to come forward and make their submissions in order to have a constitution that will benefit everyone.

Meanwhile public consultation on the draft constitution will begin this week in Suva.
