Bus operators will save 35% costs: Digicel Bus companies who opt to use Digicel e-ticketing system will save more than 35% of their costs, says Digicel Fiji chief executive Maurice McCarthy.

McCarthy said the bus operators by choosing their cheaper option will be able to reinvest the saving back into their businesses and this will ultimately improve the transport system and benefit the general public.

He said they had been working closely with all relevant stakeholders since 2012 to provide this competition within the e-ticketing marketplace, ensuring that proven world class technology is deployed within Fiji to serve the needs of both the bus operators and its passengers.

McCarthy added that reducing costs for the bus operators and providing a superior solution for passengers had always been the primary objectives of Digicel Fiji and they are excited to be given this opportunity by the government.

Government recently opened up the e-ticketing market for new solution providers after some bus companies failed to install and activate e-ticketing consoles in their buses claiming that they were not happy with the charges of the current providers and wanted to choose their own solution providers.
