Takeover decision was strategic: Tappoo The decision by Tappoo Group to take over 16 Mobil services stations around Fiji that were previously operated by Carpenters was strategic, says chief executive Madhu Tappoo.

Tappoo said the takeover which makes them Fiji’s largest fuel retailer further extends the reach of their commercial activities, giving them new opportunities to serve Fijians.

He said it also complements the Group’s activities as agent for Kia vehicles and associated services.

“Tappoo Group intends to play an active role in the fuel market and we are already active members of Fiji Motor Traders Association. Fuel keeps Fiji moving and we would ensure that high standards of service and constant innovation apply to all our 16 newly-acquired service stations,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Fuel Retailers Association (FFRA) has welcomed the new entrant and says the Tappoo Group is a worthy successor to Carpenters.

FFRA secretary John Philp said Tappoos being a major local business and investor, will add new substance and commercial experience to FFRA.

“It is a successful Fiji conglomerate with a wide portfolio of companies and interests. We look forward to their contribution to the FFRA as the association continues to promote the interests of our industry,” he said.
