Rent freeze extended for another year
Dec 27, 2013 07:39:03 PM
The Fijian Government has extended the Rent Freeze Order on residential and ground property till 31 December 2014.
This was gazetted last week.
In 2014, the Commerce Commission requires the registration of all properties that are rented out for residential purposes in order to draw up a mechanism to readjust rent based on renovation made on the property.
"By the end of 2014 we get a Price Control Order which will allow the commission to adjust rents in accordance with any capital improvements made on their property," Commission Chair Dr Mahendra Reddy said.
All landlords are advised to start registering their properties with the commission.
