Lion One gets mining go-ahead Lion One Metals’ has reportedly been given the go ahead by Fiji's Environment Department to proceed with mining over its Tuvatu Gold project.

The mining company said the government department has approved it's Enviromental Impact Assessment for Tuvatu which is located near Nadi.

The company is now undertaking advanced discussions with the iTaukei Land Trust Board concerning the terms of compensation for land use at Tuvatu, which is a prerequisite for the grant of the Surface Lease.

It expects to finalise the terms of compensation for the lease in a timely manner and will provide further guidance as warranted.

Since acquiring the Tuvatu project in 2011, the company which is founded by a successful Canadian entreprenuer, Walter H. Berukoff, focused on the compilation and validation of data gathered by previous operators, extensive surface work, and over 13,800 meters of infill and step-out drilling aimed at expanding and upgrading the resource.
