The body of a woman in her 40s who was missing from her home in Navosa yesterday was retrieved from a nearby creek
She is believed to be the country’s latest drowning victim.
The victim was last seen alive by her husband between 5pm and 6pm. She was at home at the time when her husband left for their farm at Nabuyanitu Village.
Police say she had gone fishing.
“When her husband reached home and discovered her missing from home, their neighbours were alerted whereby a search was conducted,” police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said.
“The victim’s body was retrieved from a nearby creek and was taken to the Keiyasi Health Centre where she was pronounced dead."
The drowning toll currently stands at three compared to nine for the same period last year.
