FHRI receives timely financial boost The Fiji Human Resources Institute (FHRI) has received a timely financial boost ahead of its annual convention.

The BSP Group, comprising of BSP bank, BSP Life and BSP Finance has given a funding of $110,000 to FHRI- a first for the institute and a sponsorship of three years which will help the organisation to plan more activities and run its operations more smoothly.

BSP’s General Manager Human Resources, Mr Howard Politini said that their sponsorship reflected the high value BSP placed on human capital and the importance on raising the competency levels of human resources practitioners in the country.

He said the sponsorship will assist the FHRI obtain the necessary resources to move the institute and its members forward in terms of accreditations and best practices.

“We are also committed to help improve the financial literacy level of FHRI members as we highly value HR. BSP has just upgraded its core banking systems to make it one of the most modern bank IT infrastructure in the region. Even with the best ICT systems you still need people and you have to value and equip your human resources well to meet the desired outcomes under the challenging circumstances in today’s modern and competitive business world.”

“We appraise sponsorship opportunities very carefully.  We invest where we believe it is needed and have the confidence that it will be well utilised.  Our aim is to help the human resources practitioners in our country, consistent with one of our core values being People.”

FHRI President, Mr Balbir Singh said the sponsorship has come at the right time as they are celebrating their 10th year of existence and are planning a bigger and better celebration during their annual conference in Nadi which will take place from October 24-26.

“This is the first major sponsorship for FHRI and we are indeed thankful and grateful to the BSP Group for this funding which will enable and assist us to perform our functions and activities more efficiently. It will also help us to reach out to more people and we are targeting schools and tertiary institutions to raise more awareness about HR.”

The FHRI was established on 25 August, 2005 with the main aim to improve human resources management throughout the country.
