The donation was made by Bank of the South Pacific. The Pacific’s largest banking organisation also handed FENC an additional cheque of $2960. This amount was raised by the bank’s staff through a Golden Coin appeal. BSP Country Manager, Mr Kevin McCarthy said they are proud to assist FENC in reaching out to more poor and needy students throughout the country. He said apart from the cash donations, the BSP family will also combine with FENC and distribute Christmas hampers and goodies to needy families. BSP has been making annual donations to FENC since 2011. FENC National Executive Coordinator, Mr Joape Kuinikoro said the donation will help them to set up more learning centres and assist more students. “This year we assisted 1147 students and our target is to take this number up by another 20% in 2016 so basically we are looking to assist at least 1380 students in the New Year,” he said. He said the learning centres they have established around the country are proving very effective and helpful to the students and in 2016, they will be opening more centres to provide further academic support and counselling services.
