EIB VP to meet PM, extend FEA deal

Mr Fayolle will meet with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama as well as Minister or Economy, Public Enterprises, Public Service & Communications, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. Further meetings will be held with European Union Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs and other foreign dignitaries to discuss further cooperation, as well as with Development Partners, stakeholders and the Media. He will also meet with the Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) on Thursday to sign an extension of the EIB’s technical assistance programme in the country. The EIB has been engaged in Fiji since 1978 and has provided project funding in the form of loans, totalling nearly EUR 135 million over the years. These projects include the Nadi Aircraft Maintenance Centre and various investment in the tourism sector, the supply of energy on Viti Levu as well as investments in the forest industry.
