SPSE launches 2018 annual awards The South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPSE) officially launched its 2018 Annual Awards yesterday and signed up two Gold Sponsors for the upcoming event this year.

Kontiki Finance Limited (KFL) has joined on board as the new sponsor.

 The fast growing financial institution which is also the latest company to be listed under SPSE joins Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited (ATH) Group of Companies and its subsidiaries- Vodafone Fiji Limited (VFL) and Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL.)

SPSE chairperson, Dr. Nur Bano Ali said that the 2018 awards will feature two categories- the Annual Report Awards and the Grand Awards.

“Under the annual report awards, the main objective is to assess, evaluate and reward annual reports for both listed companies and unlisted organisations by focusing on design, presentation and content of report and how best relevant information has been portrayed for ease of stakeholder understanding and referencing ,” she said.

“The main objective of the Grand Awards is to recognise and reward our key stakeholders, such as the listed companies, stockbrokers and investment advisers.”

Dr. Ali further explained that the list of prizes under the Grand Awards this year they will also reward two high school students on the national platform who had participated in SPSE’s 2018 National Essay Competition.

The award is part of an initiative launched earlier this year to assist and inspire high school students to rise to the financial skills challenge and build their confidence and knowledge about savings and investments about the stock market from an early age.

“Winning an award for individuals and institutions carries connotations of reputation and expertise, something that is priceless in any line of work and for all the SPSE stakeholders. This is now being accommodated through the Annual Awards platform.”

She added that the event increases public awareness of the role and importance of the stock market, which strengthens the attractiveness of the SPSE as option for raising capital for business and it also serves as a platform for savers and investors to invest and grow their wealth overtime.

SPSE Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Krishika Narayan said that it is encouraging to see the commitment of various corporate organizations joining the sponsorship this year and the signing up of two Gold Sponsors for the 2018 Awards was a testimony to how the SPSE Awards has evolved and is also regarded as the preeminent event for the entire capital market.

Corporate organisations such as Reserve Bank of Fiji, Jacks of Fiji Group of Companies Limited, FijiCare Insurance Limited, Vision Investments Limited, Paradise Beverages (Fiji) Limited, Fijian Holdings Limited, Eco Clean (Fiji) Limited, FMF Foods Limited, Pleass Global Limited have all joined in to offer support either in cash or kind towards the 2018 Awards.

The winners from the 2018 Awards will be announced at a black-tie gala dinner event on the evening of Friday, 28th September 2018 at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
