121 new cases of coronavirus: MOH The Ministry for Health has announced a staggering 121 new cases of coronavirus tonight.

Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong in a statement said 61 of the cases are linked to existing clusters.

Dr Fong said 26 of the cases are from the Colonial War Memorial Cluster, eight from IMT, four from the Nasinu Police Barracks, four from Sakoca, four from Wailoku, and three from the Navy.

He said three of the other cases are from the clusters in Naitasiri, one from Kinoya, one from Navosai, five from Tramline Nawaka, one from Korovou, and one from Nawajikuma.

“Eleven cases have been identified as primary contacts of earlier cases, and the respective response teams are determining the cluster link,” he said.

“21 coronavirus cases have recovered, which means there are now 1043 active cases in isolation. There have been 1373 cases during the outbreak that started in April 2021.

“We have recorded a total of 1443 cases in Fiji since the first case was reported in March 2020. There have been 388 recoveries and 5 deaths due to coronavirus,” he said.

He said a total of seven people who were tested positive for coronavirus have died from pre-existing non-coronavirus-related illnesses.
