60 cases under investigation: Dr Fong Sixty new cases of coronavirus are under investigation to determine whether they are linked to existing clusters

The Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong said the cases are currently classified as community cases as they are not linked to any existing clusters.

 Dr Fong said the cases under investigation are from Nasevou Sreet, Lami, Nakoba Street, Lami, Delainavesi, Lami, Qauia Street, Lami, Naituni, Rewa, and Qima Settlement.

He said the other cases are from Feeder Road. Tacirua, Wainivula Road, Cunningham Stage Four, Naduri in Navua, Ura Place, Toorak, Freshet, Makoi, Bau St Nausori, Toga, and Nabitu.

“There are 121 new cases. Eleven cases have been identified as primary contacts of earlier cases, and the respective response teams are determining the cluster link,” he said.

“21 coronavirus cases have recovered, which means there are now 1043 active cases in isolation. There have been 1373 cases during the outbreak that started in April 2021.

“We have recorded a total of 1443 cases in Fiji since the first case was reported in March 2020. There have been 388 recoveries and 5 deaths due to coronavirus,” he said.

He said a total of seven people who were tested positive for coronavirus have died from pre-existing non-coronavirus-related illnesses.
