Dialysis not working is neglect for people: NFP

Dialysis not working is neglect for people: NFP The National Federation Party vice president Lenora Qereqeretabua says that the dialysis machines not working at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital wreaks of negligence.

Qereqeretabua said it was sad to learn that an elderly man had passed away at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital as the dialysis machines were not working.

Speaking to FijiLive Qererqeretabua said the government had promised three years ago to equip hospitals with dialysis machines.

She said if the government can request development partners for coronavirus equipment, they can also ask for more dialysis machines.

“Due to this government’s lack of empathy and support for those receiving dialysis at privately operated facilities due to the inability of hospitals to provide dialysis.”

“Government must now come to grips with the reality, of the matter that it has failed to equip public hospitals with dialysis machines as promised both in 2017 and 2020.”

“Our people need compassion and compliance of government’s social responsibility to the population, especially during very difficult times like this.”

“If the government can hire overseas consultants and recruit permanent secretaries from abroad then they could provide dialysis treatment to the people,” she said.

She said there was simply no reason why the government should deny members of the public their fundamental constitutional right to health.
