Fiji records 1285 new COVID-19 infections

Fiji records 1285 new COVID-19 infections 1285 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded between 8am Sunday and 8am Monday and 202 cases are from the Western Division while 1083 cases are from the Central Division.

490 new cases are from existing areas of interest, 577 were detected  at screening centres and health facilities while 180 are primary contacts of positive patients.

Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong said there have been 263 new recoveries reported since the last update, which means that there are now 17,937 active cases.

"16,239 active cases are in the Central Division and 1698 in the West. All cases that were recorded in the Northern and Eastern Divisions have recovered.

“There have been 24,354 cases during the outbreak that started in April 2021. We have recorded a total of 24,424 cases in Fiji since the first case was reported last year,” he said.

He said a total of 6191 individuals have recovered from the virus since the first case was announced in March last year.
