Latest Update:MOH reveal drop- 684 cases The Ministry for Health has recorded a drop in cases in the last 24 hours with 684 new cases announced today.

A drop in cases of coronavirus in the last two days has been attributed to people with mild symptoms being advised to self-isolate at home without being swabbed the virus.

Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong said people who are symptomatic are no longer tested for coronavirus.

Dr Fong said people with mild symptoms of coronavirus should strictly self-isolate at home for fourteen days as they no longer will be tested positive for coronavirus.

“Most people infected with coronavirus will have only mild symptoms like cough, runny nose, sore throat, fever, loss of taste or smell, body ache and can fully recover at home,” he said.

“For lower-risk individuals with coronavirus symptoms, we ask you to please stay at home for 14 days, isolate yourself from other family members.

“Individuals self-isolating at home due to coronavirus will need to continue to monitor their symptoms for severe coronavirus.

“If you develop any signs of severe coronavirus like difficulty breathing or chest pain, please go immediately to one of our dedicated health facilities,” he said.

He said the ministry has recorded a total of 22,513 cases in Fiji since the first case was reported in March 2020, with 5,686 recoveries.
