Over 700 teachers not paid: MOE Over 700 teachers have not received their pay from the education ministry as they have not yet received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

This comes after Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama announced the no jab no job rule for all civil servants earlier this month.

Permanent Secretary for Education Anjleen Jokhan said over 700 teachers did not meet the pay cycle cut-off date and have missed out on receiving their salaries

Jokhan said teachers who have refused to take the coronavirus vaccine have been sent on leave.

“As of yesterday, out of its 13,823 employees, 10,617 have received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine,” she said.

“A circular being released earlier on to all staff contain all necessary information on the vaccination programme.

“All staff who have not yet received any dose of the coronavirus vaccine were sent on leave from last week Monday.

“We are currently facilitating manual payments so that these teachers who have been vaccinated receive their pay at the earliest,” she said.

She said teachers who have received their vaccination after last Monday are to provide necessary information to the heads of schools immediately.

She in a circular sent to all staff yesterday said this will enable the salaries team to facilitate payment.
