PM needs to heed the people's voices: Tabuya Opposition whip Lynda Tabuya has warned the Prime Minister to take heed of the reactions of members of the public on social media during his contributions in parliament.

Tabuya said that apart from the angry emojis, the Prime Minister has also received abusive remarks from members of the public watching the live parliamentary sitting on social media.

“The government has obviously missed the most important point of communication which is defined as an exchange of information,” she said.

“Communication from the government to the people has been only one way. The only way the public has been able to communicate is through angry emojis on the prime minister’s videos.

“Does he not see how angry the people are? I honestly hope he reads the Facebook comments on his videos after he reads his speeches and yes, on TikTok too.”

“The comments are so bad, I cannot repeat most of them here and even Parliament’s repeated notice of ‘no abusive remarks’ kept popping up on the screen,” she said.

She said on the video of the prime minister’s budget presentation on the Parliament of Fiji website, there were more than 1000 angry emojis.
