Four people died of coronavirus in July Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong has confirmed the four people that died in July in their own homes succumbed to coronavirus.

Dr Fong in a statement on social media said these deaths are being reported today due to the delay in receiving the official death certificates.

He said the ministry is currently in the process of reviewing and reconciling their active case database with deaths and recoveries.

He said the ministry as a result expects the death and recovery numbers to intermittently change.

“A 90-year-old man from Nausori died of coronavirus at his home on July 08, he was not vaccinated. Also, a 52-year-old woman from Suva died at home on July 12.

“Another 60-year-old man from Vatuwaqa died of coronavirus he was not vaccinated while an 85-year-old man from Nausori died of coronavirus on July 16,” he said.

Dr Fong said there have now been 544 deaths due to coronavirus in Fiji, with 542 of these deaths during the outbreak that started in April this year
