Dose interval reduced to 6 weeks Second dose of AstraZeneca can be administered 6 weeks after the first dose, says the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

The Ministry in its latest statement said individuals can choose to receive the second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine at an interval of 6 weeks after the first dose.

“Any person aged 18 years and above who has received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine can receive the second dose after an interval period of 6 weeks up to 8 weeks.”

“The easing of the restrictions after more than 80 percent of Fiji’s eligible target population have become fully vaccinated, does not mean that Fiji is out of risk of COVID-19. There are still cases of COVID-19 in the communities.”

The Ministry further stated that AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines are also safe to be given to pregnant women who are above the age of 18 years old.
