HA Board of directors resigned, not fired:AG Minister for Housing Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has confirmed that the former members Housing Authority and Public Rental Board, board of directors resigned not fired.

Sayed-Khaiyum in a statement said he had received the resignation of the board of directors of the Housing Authority and Public Rental Board on Monday.

He said a new chairperson and five members have been appointed as part of a board revamp to enable the expansion of affordable housing stock for purchase and rent for Fijians at all levels.

 “The newly-appointed members offer decades of experience in the private sector, legal field, and community development,” he said.

“Their combined experience will strengthen the realisation of the organisations' mandates to create more home-owning opportunities and access to housing for Fijian families.

“The vision of the Government is to make homeownership achievable for every Fijian and rental rate affordable for those who do not have access to immediate housing.

“New appointees bring a depth of strategic management experience that will help the Public Rental Board and Housing Authority deliver on that vision for the benefit of thousands of Fijian.

“Both organisations will explore a wide range of partnerships in the public and private sectors to make quality, modern, and affordable housing a reality across the country," he said.

The current Fiji National Provident Fund chief executive Viliame Vodonaivalu has been appointed as the board chairperson.

Other members are Saud Minam, Renee Duguivalu, Susan Naidu, Florence Takinana and  Anil Prasad.
