Low vaccination rate in Bua worries authorities Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong is concerned of the low vaccination rate in the Bua subdivision.

Dr Fong said the second dose vaccination coverage for the Bua subdivision remains a concern based on the Health Ministry's vaccination coverage data.

He said Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete will be visiting the Northern Division in November to help to escalate the second dose coverage especially in Bua.

“The MInister will be leading a team to go to the North together with the community engagement team from various ministries on Tuesday,” he said.

“This will help to escalate our second dose coverage especially in Bua. This will include a special dispensation to reduce vaccination interval to six weeks for astrazeneca.

He said the vaccination coverage for the North is more than 90 per cent for the first dose and more than 75 per cent for the second dose.

He said the Health Ministry is currently reconciling this data with repatriating Northerners who have received vaccines in Viti Levu.
