You can vote with any ID: SOE Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem has revealed that people can vote in the next general elections with any identification card.

Saneem during a press conference said people can vote in the next general elections with any identification card provided they turn up in the right polling venue.

He said no one will stop a member of the public to take their green card to cast their vote in the 2022 general elections but it is no longer a valid identification card.

“You can vote without your voter registration card. People can even vote in the next general elections provided they turn up in the right polling venue,” he said.

“No one will stop you from taking a green card to cast your vote in the 2022 general elections but it is no longer a valid identification card.

“The green voter cards presently in use have expired, in order to get the new blue coloured cards, every Fijian would have to produce their birth certificate.

“I understand a politician is questioning where the expiry date of the voter registration card is. I would like to refer that person to sections 19 D of the Electoral Registration of Voters Act.

“This section of the act allows us to expire a voter card so we can upgrade the security feature or the information contained in the card,” he said.

He said the information that is given by the Fijian Elections Office regarding the general elections is the most credible information.
