Not an easy year for leaders, says Akbar Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar says this year was not an easy one for Parliamentary leaders because of the unprecedented situation the country has been facing since early 2020.

She while speaking in the opening session of Parliament today said the situation demanded quick decisions, critical thinking, proper reasoning and compassion for people.

“It’s also a situation that also demanded firmness unlike ever before and it not only threatened us at the given time, but also threatens our wellbeing in the future,” she said.

“As a Government that has always considered the needs of the future as well as the present, the challenge was doubled because coronavirus times are times unlike any other.

“The wrath of the second wave of the virus earlier this year had truly challenged us in ways we had only heard of.

“But yet again, together as a nation, we have overturned the challenges of the coronavirus times and are back on the road to recovery,” she said.

She said the virus wouldn’t have been contained without the commitment and diligence of the Government in carrying their call of duty.
