Remote teaching to cease: Kumar Education Minister Premila Kumar has confirmed that the last day of remote teaching and learning for early childhood to Year 11 students will be December 10.

However, Kumar said teachers will continue coming to school till December 17 to mark worksheets, assist in the school vaccination programme and prepare for 2022.

She said all teachers and students will go on break for two weeks starting from December 20, 2021, till January 3, 2022.

“The education ministry has revised its school plan. The reason for the revise in school plan is the nature of coronavirus and how the situation evolves in different countries,” she said.

“The other reason there has been a revise in the education ministry school plan is the research undertaken by development partners based on all of these we make our decisions.

“We had a meeting with the health ministry where we have made a decision for students from year eight to 11 to resume schools on January 04, 2022.

“The education ministry has not made a decision yet by when early childhood to year seven will resume school. For now, they will continue to study remotely,” Kumar said.

She said the ministry will review its school plan again in case if a natural disaster hits the country or any other unforeseen circumstances.
