Tourism to inject $255m into the economy Tourist arrivals and tourism activities will inject about $255 million into the Fijian economy in the next two months.

Tourism Fiji chief executive Brent Hill said they have about 75,000 bookings for December and January.

He also revealed that  close to 1000 Australian tourists have cancelled their booking in the last few days as they will be required to undergo home quarantine upon returning home from Fiji.

“There were some people in New South Wales and Victoria that need to home quarantine for three days upon their return and they found this unnecessary.

“There were some pre bookings and new bookings in the last few days. The businesses that got ready and have opened to guests are being rewarded by getting bookings.

“I think another thing that is exciting is that it’s not just the family travelers. We are getting some really strong luxury travels as well together with adventure travel,” he said.

He said they are expecting tourists from New Zealand in February as their borders open next year.
