Increase in trend of coronavirus cases: Fong The health ministry has noticed an increase in the trend in coronavirus cases.

Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong said while the increase is not obvious on the epidemiological curve graph they are maintaining close surveillance of case numbers.

Dr Fong said the ministry is monitoring hospital admissions and testing for coronavirus after noticing an increasing trend in cases of coronavirus.

“I am anticipating is that at some point in time, the number of cases will go up without any impact on admissions and instability,” he said.

“When we get to the safe equilibrium within an endemic face, then we will be better, that is what we are aiming for.

Now, to achieve that safe equilibrium within an endemic phase, we do need the third booster dose. We need the coverage escalation in the third booster dose.

“Right now we are up to 30 per cent of the population that are qualified for having booster. I am hoping that over the next few weeks, we will start to escalate a lot more for booster coverage.

“In terms of phases, I see the numbers are creeping up a little bit. And I've mentioned that you know but I really believe that we should not panic,” he said.

He said for people to get protected from the virus they should get their third booster.
