Permanent address not required, trial hears The trial of Opposition Member of Parliament Ratu Suliano Matanitobua today heard that an individual does not need to provide details of his or her permanent address while filling the arrival card at the Nadi Airport.

Immigration officer Sanjana Mala who took the stand as a Fiji Indepdent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) witness said every individual that lands at Nadi airport needs to fill in the arrival card, not only Fijian citizens.

.She said individuals need to fill in their address and this also applies to tourists who have to fill in the details of the resorts they will stay at.

Mala said the arrival card does not require permanent residential address.

She said according to the screenshot of Ratu Suliano’s arrival card in 2019, he had filled in his residential address as Veivatuloa.

Ratu Suliano has been charged with the one count of giving false information to a public servant and a count of obtaining financial advantage.

He is alleged to have falsely stated that his permanent place of residence was in Namosi village and allegedly obtained $38,378.22
