Nair said a circular was sent around yesterday informing officers in charge for Police officers to start preparations. In an interview, he said it is important for Police officers to start training so they could understand what is required of them at the polling venues. “We have commenced training for our officers, it is very important so that our officers understand what is required of them during elections,” he said. “Training is important as every member of the Fiji Police Force will be able to understand their roles and responsibilities during elections. “A pocket sized scanner book has been drawn up with some frequently questions asked by the public and answers to it. This will allow our officers to assist voters on election day. “Ninety per cent of our officers have been trained now and we are going into the second routine because of the routine policy functions that we have to carry out. “I cannot be able to off the cuff to give you the exact number of police officers that will be on duty during the day of the general election,” he said. He said they have been informed that some Police stations will be used as polling venues. By Nacanieli Tuilevuka
